White House Says It’s in ‘Best Interest’ of Cuba to Make Big Changes Soon

WASHINGTON D.C , UNITED STATES – The White House signaled a sharper tone towards Havana. It said that it’s in Cuba’s “best interest” to make significant changes soon, but stopped short of calling for a change in government.

The remarks come amid ongoing tensions between the two countries which include, longstanding sanctions and recent debate over energy shortages and economic pressure facing Cuba.

Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, made the comments Wednesday as questions swirled over Washington’s next move toward the island nation.

She says the United States wants to see flourishing and prosperous democracies around the world, particularly in the western hemisphere. However, they declined to outline any specific actions that the U.S. May take to achieve that.
