NASSAU, BAHAMAS – 30 years since the Free National Movement secured its landmark win in the 1992 general election, the party continues to commemorate the milestone. This past Friday, two women who played a pivotal role in the party’s leadership are reflecting on the party’s groundbreaking defeat. Jameelha Missick reports.

That’s Dame Janet Bostwick, the first woman elected to serve in the House of Assembly.
As the party celebrates its historical 1992 election win, the former Free National Movement member of parliament, reflects on when Former Prime Minister and Party Leader, Hubert Ingraham joined the Free National Movement in 1990.
The FNM swept the August 1992 elections, winning 32 of the 49 seats to become the government of The Bahamas.
Former Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rome Italia Johnson says she joined the political arena committed to nation building and a new form of governance.
