Bahamas Boxing Academy Opens
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Boxing Academy will be a state-of-the-art facility which will feature the latest training equipment and a dormitory to host athletes from the family islands. It’s grand opening was held on Saturday.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Boxing Academy will be a state-of-the-art facility which will feature the latest training equipment and a dormitory to host athletes from the family islands. It’s grand opening was held on Saturday.
Philanthropist and investor Nick Maughan, founder of BoxWise, the UK’s largest boxing nonprofit, is funding the academy.
According to Sports Minister Mario Bowleg, this is just the beginning, as the government will continue its partnership with Maughan and BoxWise.
Jonquel Jones Makes Preseason Debut
The center from Grand Bahama and her New York Liberty made their preseason debut yesterday, falling to the Indiana Fever 109-91.
JJ got her feet wet, playing only 13 minutes, scoring 4 points, and grabbing 6 rebounds.
JJ’s backup Han Xu led the team off the bench, dropping 20 points in 22 minutes.
Kelsey Mitchell and Shatori Walker-Kimborough had 18 a piece to lead the Fever.
