Some Parents Struggle with School Preparation

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Some parents are still reeling from the economic hardship brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, making it difficult for them to purchase school supplies for the upcoming school year, with one mother even considering delaying her children’s return to school.

Just days ahead of the opening of the new school year, some are struggling to get the supplies ahead of the fall semester.

Ms. Pierre, a Kemp Road resident who says she has yet to secure anything for her three children, and without a job, she’s not sure where she will find the means to acquire the supplies.

At this point, she’s not sure if they will make it to school at the beginning of the school term.

Public schools will reopen for full face to face learning on Monday, since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.

Retailers recently told Our News it seems residents are spending less.

But Pierre isn’t alone. Joseph Marshall says while his son is prepared for the upcoming semester, it hasn’t been easy.
