NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A supreme court judge has refused to grant an injunction, preventing the transfer of acting Senior Magistrate Anishka Isaacs to the supreme court.

Isaacs was placed on administrative leave on April 20, pending an investigation into complaints about her from defense lawyers and members of the public.

Although the investigation by the Judicial and Legal Services Commission did not result in disciplinary action, Isaacs was reassigned to the supreme court as Deputy Registrar in June.

Isaacs claimed that the decision damaged her reputation, undermined her judicial independence, breached due process and unlawfully stripped her of the office to which she had been constitutionally appointed.

She was appointed Deputy Registrar of the Court of Appeal in July 2022. In June 2024, she was appointed as acting Senior Magistrate for 18 months. The appointment was extended for 18 months in December 2025.
