NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police are investigating an alleged fatal dog attack which occurred through Palm Tree Avenue off East Street, leaving one man dead.

Chief Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings told the media the incident occurred just after 4:00am Saturday where they found a man, believed to be in his late fifties or early sixties, with significant injuries to the lower body.

Chief Superintendent Skippings said the injuries seemed to be “consistent with bite marks” as a result of an attack by dogs in the area.

Our News can confirm that the Animal Control Unit was called to the scene and removed four dogs from a home not too far away from where the victim was found. In total, six dogs were to be removed from the scene.

Skippings also admonished those with dogs that if they have more than one, they should be licensed and if they are on the outside, the yard should be properly secured and enclosed.

“If your yard is not enclosed, there are penalties,” she said to the media during her briefing.
