NASSAU, BAHAMAS – An increase in the minimum wage has some questioning if the hike will pinch the pockets of small businesses.

When Prime Minister Philip Davis was asked if he was concerned about those businesses having to shoulder a bump in minimum wage and a rate hike at Bahamas Power and Light, the PM seemed confident that both timing and government assistance would make the load bearable for smaller companies.

The PM was also asked “to defend” himself against those who say the minimum wage increase to $260 is not enough.
