GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – Downtown Freeport Business Association President Anton Brooks is asking for an extension on the Special Economic Recovery Zone, SERZ order.

That order allows for the continuation of duty free and value added tax free importation of several items including household furniture, hardware supplies and building materials.

Following Hurricane Dorian, the Minnis administration established Special Economic Recovery Zones in the Abacos and Grand Bahama to provide businesses and homeowners in the areas impacted by the deadly category 5 Hurricane Dorian with a number of tax breaks and concessions.

The order is set to expire on December 1st.
