NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A grandmother is seeking answers after a birthday party ended in tragedy.

Lavita Thurston says her four-year-old grandson was left with broken bones after he was allegedly hit by a car.

Thurston claims that on September 18, 2022, Carter attempted to cross the street after playing in a bouncing castle while at a birthday party at her home.

She says that’s when a car sped through Palmetto Avenue, knocking him down and leaving him a mangled mess.

The accident left Carter with two broken bones, a dislocated shoulder, and he now needs a caretaker.

She says the family did not hear back from the man who hit her grandson which prompted her to visit his home.

She says she spoke with his mother who was not aware of the incident.

To add insult to injury, she says the driver’s family asked what they can do to help. Thurston says she asked for them to pay for the caretaker, which they did not do.

Thurston claims the traffic report has her four-year-old grandson listed as the person responsible for the accident as a careless pedestrian.
