NASSAU, BAHAMAS – If you want to give the gift of blood, there are some measures you must take before you can donate, according to health advisors.

Mario Williams, supervisor at PMH’s blood bank, says any healthy person aged 16 and older can donate. For most people, he says it is a quick and easy process.

The next step is to visit the phlebotomist for a brief medical examination.

Williams says PMH is also working to encourage blood drives beyond the walls of the hospital.

He says one pint of blood can save up to three lives, and the average donor is able to donate up to four times per year.
