NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Opening a two day regional symposium on violence and crime, Prime Minister Philip Davis insisting one of the largest concerns is every gun used to commit a crime in the Caribbean is smuggled into the country.

The prime minister, who also serves as the Chairman for CARICOM, went even further noting that 70% of all violent crimes stem from those same guns.

Last month The Bahamas along with Antigua and Barbuda, St. Vincent and The Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago and Mexico filed a brief in the United States Court of Appeal in support of a 10 billion lawsuit to hold U.S. gun manufacturers liable for the destruction American-made guns have caused in those countries.
