NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Just a few weeks into the hurricane season, Works and Utilities Minister Alfred Sears is asking residents to conserve.

His comments came days after Bahamas Power and Light started a load-shedding exercise last weekend.

When asked his advice to residents, sears said this.

The Bahamas hasn’t seen a major hurricane since Dorian slammed parts of Abaco and Grand Bahama in 2019.

BPL officials say the corporation has already started preparing in the event a hurricane comes our way, meanwhile, Sears says BPL is also looking to incorporate new technology and building capacity.
