NASSAU, BAHAMAS – That’s Phoenix Suns Center and New Providence native Deandre Ayton.  

This past season ended for his team in the Western Conference Semifinals when they were torched by eventual NBA MVP, Nuggets Center Nikola Jokic, who averaged a triple-double with 34 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists per game while Ayton scored 10 points per game, grabbed 8 rebounds, way below his season and career numbers. 

He is putting last season’s ending behind him and getting to work. 

He also spoke about the recent release of his signature shoes, celebrating his Bahamian and Jamaican heritage. 

Athletics

Steven Gardiner won the men’s 400-meter event at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial in Hungary in a time of 43.74 seconds.  

Anthonique strachan also picked up a bronze medal in the 200m behind Sherika Jackson of Jamaica and Ireland’s Rashidat Adeleke finishing in 22.45 seconds.  

The European tour continues leading into the World Championships scheduled for August in Budapest.
