BCC Remains Split On Capital Punishment
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Christian Council remains divided on the issue of capital punishment, according to President Bishop Delton Fernander.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The Bahamas Christian Council remains divided on the issue of capital punishment, according to President Bishop Delton Fernander.
While addressing the sexual assault of a nine-year-old last week, Fernander admitted the council stands behind the suggestion that repeat offenders should be denied bail.
He believes the different denominations that make up the council play a factor in the split.
The council has been split on the issue for quite some time.
Back in January, Fernander told a local daily the country may need to consider other methods of capital punishment.
While no position has been taken by the council, he says the issue still remains a topic of discussion.
