NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Promoters will now have to pay an occasional business license fee to hold events as government seeks to take in more revenue from previously untaxed areas.

Acting Controller of Inland Revenue Shunda Strachan explains that the seven hundred and fifty dollar fee will only apply to those selling tickets for the events.

The acting controller warns that the enforcement unit will be cracking down on events to ensure compliance.

However, there are some organizations exempt from the occasion fee. These include churches and civic organizations.
