Munroe: He is a Danger to the Public at Large

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Minister for National Security, Wayne Munroe, telling reporters he has deemed 47-year-old Sidney Cooper as a significant threat to public health and safety.

Cooper’s lengthy criminal history dates back to 1998 with a disorderly conduct conviction.

In 2000, Cooper was convicted on two sexual assault charges and since then has been convicted in 2005, 2006, 2014, 2016, and 2019.

His most recent conviction landing him on the sexual offenders registry.

Aside from his convictions, Munroe says Cooper displays behavior that leads him to believe he is a threat to society.

During his exit interview, Munroe insists Cooper said he knows it is wrong but that “women invite him to touch them when they wear short clothes or wear tight clothes or smile or lick their lips or bend over or move their hips or blink their eyes or cross their legs”.

And with 15 sexual offenses under his belt, it leaves one to wonder, what does rehabilitation efforts look like behind bars?

Well, Minister Munroe notes that they are presently working to have doctors on staff on a daily basis at BDOCS, rather than a visiting consultant from Sandilands Rehabilitation Center.

Munroe says despite objections from Cooper regarding the public notification of his release, he has deemed it necessary. However, he also had this warning for the public that this notification was not permission for anyone to enact harm or punishment on Cooper.
