NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Despite their current circumstances, residents of the women’s facilities at the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services had lots of reasons to smile and celebrate yesterday at the second session of the Grow Your Child Program.

Corrections Corporal, Detrice McCardy says the initiative, launched last month, aims toward re-uniting mothers with their children.

The full day of activities kicking off at the correctional facility’s chapel chapel. Pastor Designate of Evangelism and Outreach at Mt. Tabor Church, Dr. Felicia Archer has been partnering with the facility for some 10 years.

The children were also gifted 32 backpacks filled with school supplies thanks to Director of FOAM, Khandi Gibson.

Recalling her own experiences, she says she filled with joy to see the program come to fruition
