ANGUILLA – A critical initiative to combat rising gun violence has been launched giving residents two weeks to turn in illegal guns and ammunition.

The ‘Stop the guns’ campaign, launched Monday urges residents to surrender illegal firearms and ammunition to the Valley Police Station from January 29 to February 11, day or night.

The ‘Gun Amnesty Law’ signed by the governor means no questions will be asked. However, authorities say after February 12, strict penalties, including mandatory prison sentences, will be enforced.
