Back In The Starting Lineup, Klay Leads Dubs To Win

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS, USA – About a month ago, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr moved Klay Thompson to a bench role to optimize his and the team’s performance. Klay made a spot return to the starting lineup on Monday to help his team get a win in San Antonio. 

The Bahamian long-range specialist had 21 points, 2 rebounds and 2 assists in the effort.

Klay’s points came on 8 of 21 shooting and he made 4 of his 10 attempts from long range.

The team was without all-time great Steph Curry but another all-timer, Chris Paul filled in admirably for him, scoring 19 points, grabbing 9 rebounds and dishing out 8 assists in his stead. Young forward Johnathan Kuminga led the Dubs in scoring with 22 points. He also had 5 rebounds. 

The Spurs had a strong effort from number 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama, who scored 27 points and grabbed a monstrous 14 rebounds. The Spurs managed to get within one point with 7:26 in the third quarter on a layup by point guard Tre Jones. But the Warriors went on a 14-2 run right after that to end the Spurs’ bid for a win. 

The win breaks a two-game losing streak for Klay and the Warriors. They’ll have a tough matchup on Wednesday when they play Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and the Dallas Mavericks.
