NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Project Manager Mr. Finley of SJK Engineering and Construction said the pool is ready now when I asked him directly whether the pool would be ready for CARIFTA competition come March 30th.

The pool has been closed for renovations since July last year and has been a hot topic, dominating news headlines up to now, with some even questioning whether we would still be able to host the CARIFTA Aquatics Championships.

Sports Minister Mario Bowleg gave several assurances from July to now that the facilities at the Betty Kelly Kenning Aquatics Center would be ready, even shunning the opposition in the House of Assembly two weeks ago who questioned whether the work would be completed in time.

Team Bahamas held their first practices last Saturday – in the morning at St. Andrews School and then in the evening at St. Annes Anglican School.

Finley shared the scope of work that has been done from July to now.

The project manager also had this message for the opposition, parents and anyone concerned about the ongoing work.
