Judge Fines Trump $9,000 For Contempt In Hush Money Trial

NEW YORK – The judge presiding over Donald Trump’s hush money trial fined him $9,000 for contempt of court on Tuesday, warning of possible jail time if he continued to violate a gag order.

Justice Juan Merchan imposed the fine for nine online statements, just short of prosecutors’ $10,000 request.

Trump was ordered to remove the statements and faces further fines for other violations. The trial, featuring testimony from a banker, resumed in New York as trump faces charges related to a $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels to cover up an alleged sexual encounter.

Trump denies the charges, as his supporters rallied outside the courthouse.
