UNITED STATES – The US department of justice is weighing potential prosecution of Boeing for two fatal crashes involving its 737 max aircraft.

Boeing denies any violation after allegedly breaching a 2021 agreement shielding the company from criminal charges.

The crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia claimed 346 lives.

The DOJ asserts Boeing failed to establish an adequate compliance program. Boeing, however, contends it upheld the agreement’s terms. Under the settlement, Boeing paid a $2.5 billion fine.

Relatives of the victims seek further action, calling for accountability.

Boeing remains under scrutiny following recent safety concerns, including an incident where a door detached from a 737 max mid-flight.

Boeing executives say they are prioritizing saftey.
