NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Police-involved shootings tend to be looked at through different lenses, but are officers in the right or in the wrong? It’s a question that’s always asked whenever there is an officer-involved shooting. Well, the national security minister is weighing in on the discussion.
The subject of police-involved shootings continues to be a matter of debate, with the public seemingly split on the matter.
With several adverse findings into these shootings, National Security Minister Wayne Munroe reminded residents that police should not have to hesitate when their lives are being put at risk.
The most recent police involved shooting occurred on May 9th in Western New Providence, where a man was fatally shot and police officer injured.
When it comes to these recent adverse findings in the coroners court, Munroe has this question.
An attorney by profession, Munroe says he represented both families and officers in these situations placed before the courts many times.
But for officers, Munroe did it free. While it is a tough job, Munroe says officers will do what they must.
