UNITED STATES – As the U.S. heads into summer, early indicators suggest a rise in covid-19 infections.

For the week ending June 8, test positivity was 5.4%, up 0.8% from the previous week, according to CDC data.

The western region, including California and Arizona, saw the highest positivity at 12.8%.

Covid emergency visits also rose by 12.6%.

Experts predict a gradual increase rather than a surge, with immunity from past infections and vaccinations helping to mitigate severe cases.

Hospitalizations and deaths remain stable, mainly affecting high-risk groups.
