NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Reality is setting in for residents in a Cowpen Road Shantytown known as T-Wash.

It’s the latest unregulated community up for demolition. The task force responsible for handling it walked through the community Monday morning. It’s something, my cameraman Steve and I did last week.

Leading the effort has been Superintendent Stephen Carey.

This shantytown, the latest to be demolished following other demolitions in New Providence, Abaco, and Eleuthera.

And just like last week, clothing was still hanging about, there were muddy pathways, and outdoor facilities were our obstacles as we walked through.

We were also in for a surprise, as officers took us across the road to another section hidden away behind a gate.

They call it T-Wash East.

Homes like this blue structure here, already being taken down, parts of it loaded on a flatbed truck to be taken to another location.

Many, of the residents say they have a hard time finding apartments to rent even as a work permit holder.
