PLP Chairman Shoots Down Challenge To Publish Campaign Donor List

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – PLP Chairman Fred Mitchell  says he is “not playing games”  in response to FNM Leader Michael Pintard’s challenge for the PLP to make public its donor list from the last election.

The challenge from Pintard came after he shot down unsubstantiated claims that he received a $5m donation from the Grand Bahama Port Authority.

Earlier this week a ZNS North reporter asked Prime Minister Philip Davis about the claim during that interview Davis called Pintard a water boy for the GPBA and urged him to say if he received the donation.

Pintard made it clear during a press conference Wednesday that he did not receive any donation from the GBPA.

This recent spat between the two parties is thrusting the conversation of campaign financing back in the public eye.

We asked Mitchell who is also the foreign affairs minister if this is on the government’s agenda.

Meanwhile, the FNM says a Pintard-led administration would move forward with campaign finance legislation.

It was a promise made under the former Minnis administration but never made it to parliament Pintard, along with many of his colleagues served in the Cabinet.

We asked him during a press conference on Wednesday what would be the difference with this administration.
