Pair Plead Not Guilty to Killing Former Deputy House Speaker
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The men charged in connection to the murder of former Deputy House Speaker Donald Saunders pleaded not guilty in court on Friday.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The men charged in connection to the murder of former Deputy House Speaker Donald Saunders pleaded not guilty in court on Friday.
Saunders, the former Free National Movement representative for Tall Pines, was at Rags Bar in Gambier Village on March 27 when two gunmen robbed the business of $650.
Saunders was fatally shot when the gunmen tried to rob him.
Prosecutors say Jaico Choute and Nicarson Nixon are responsible for the crimes.
The men appeared via videolink from the prison for their arraignment before Justice Gregory Hilon, where they denied charges of murder, armed robbery, and attempted armed robbery.
Their trial has been assigned to Justice Guillimina Archer-Minns.
She’ll set a trial date for the accused on September 11.
