A. Leonard Archer Remembered As An Education and Union Pioneer

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Educator, unionist, and former ambassador to CARICOM, A. Leonard Archer passed away on Friday at 83-years-old, leaving a mark on the young country after his decades of service.

Board Chairman of the Teachers’ Credit Union, Leroy Sumner, called Archer a trailblazer.

As a unionist, Archer is probably best known for his involvement in the longest strike in Bahamian history.

But it wasn’t always an easy road. Longtime colleague and friend, Haldane Chase, becoming emotional when describing Archer’s strength.
