NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Works and Family Island Affairs Minister Clay Sweeting said government has not forgotten its promise to rid the county of shantytowns.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Works and Family Island Affairs Minister Clay Sweeting said government has not forgotten its promise to rid the county of shantytowns.
This after eviction notices were erected on August 1st in the T-wash shantytown on Cowpen Road have now expired.
Speaking to reporters outside of the House of Assembly Wednesday morning, Sweeting reminding taxpayers that it’s a collaborative effort in demolishing shantytowns that can cause delays.
But exactly when will demolition happen? The minister says they will never share the exact date.
Now I visited the shantytown Tuesday, while most homes stand empty, some residents, still hanging around.
The minister had this warning; he said a no-nonsense approach will be taken when it comes to unregulated communities.
