Family ID’s Abaco Man As One Of Two Bahamians Killed In Waters Off Haiti
ABACO, BAHAMAS – A Moore’s Island Abaco family is in mourning tonight after an incident in waters off Haiti saw the death of their relative, now confirmed to be Shadrack Stuart.
ABACO, BAHAMAS – A Moore’s Island Abaco family is in mourning tonight after an incident in waters off Haiti saw the death of their relative, now confirmed to be Shadrack Stuart.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Sunday night, saying they received unconfirmed reports of the deaths in Haiti.
The statement says the report reveals three Bahamian men and a Jamaican man were on a speed boat when they were shot at.
During the gunfire, two of the men were killed and another was hospitalized.
Graphic videos of the alleged incidents flooded social media, making an already difficult situation worse for the family.
His cousin George Stuart shares how the incident has left the family reeling:

“I know him from a baby, he was a nice fella, kind-hearted. I never knew him to be in no problems or anything like that, I was surprised when I heard this one come up [sic],” Stuart said.
The statement also says one man remains unaccounted for.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs weekend statement also refers to details from the Counternarcotics Unit of the Haitian National Police.
It says the Haitian National Police confirms its officers intercepted a rowboat laden with drugs on Sunday.
As a result, two Jamaicans drowned, one body is in the morgue, and a Bahamian is in custody.
Stuart told us that he found out that his cousin tragically lost his life on social media, and that his cousin leaves behind a wife and three children.
