NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A chance for a fresh start, that’s how former Progressive Liberal Party Member of Parliament for Mangrove Cay and South and Central Andros and Current Executive Chairman at the Broadcasting Corporation of the Bahamas Picewell Forbes is describing the Proroguing of Parliament.

Governor General Sir Cornelius A. Smith, acting on the advice of Prime Minister Philip Davis, Prorogued Parliament on Saturday.

Commissioner of Police Clayton Fernander read the proclamation on the steps of the House of Assembly on Saturday.

The new session of parliament will begin on October 4th, 2023.

It is a move welcomed by Forbes, who retired from frontline politics before the 2021 general election.

There is also speculation of a possible cabinet shakeup. The former MP says he believes the Prime Minister will make the right decisions.
