Murder Suspect Denied Bail

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A murder convict will have to serve his 40-year prison sentence after the Privy Council refused to hear an appeal against his conviction and sentence, saying no miscarriage of justice occurred in his case.

Lathario Miller is serving time for the September 25, 2010 murder of Marco Smith in Ridgeland Park.

According to the evidence, shortly before the shooting, Smith confronted Miller at Market Street over an unpaid debt.

During the row that followed, Smith threatened to send Miller to his dead mother.

After the confrontation, Smith went to buy food from a vendor in nearby Ridgeland Park. Miller came to the vendor’s spot by bicycle and shot Smith multiple times while he waited for his food.
