NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Penalties have been agreed on for the company responsible for that oil spill in Exuma back in July 2022.

The incident resulted in 35 thousand gallons of diesel being spilled into waters off an Exuma bay as a vessel contracted by sun oil limited was offloading fuel to Bahamas Power and Light in George Town.

Pinder says the government is also looking to impose fines on the company responsible for the wreck on Abaco.

The fines he said will be due to the delay in moving the vessel.

He adds the government is looking to improve regulations to allow for the issuance of spot fines.
