NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Senior government officials, both past and present, gathered to pay their respects and sign the book of condolences for tourism giant and businessman George Myers.
NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Senior government officials, both past and present, gathered to pay their respects and sign the book of condolences for tourism giant and businessman George Myers.
Myers relocated to The Bahamas in 1963 where he devoted his life to hospitality for over 40 years.
Prime minister Philip Davis and Deputy Prime Minister Chester Cooper remembering him for his stellar contribution to tourism over the years.
Myers, who died back on February 16, began his career at the Nassau Beach Hotel moving through the ranks from bar manager to general manager and vice president by 1967.
He then became president of Resorts International where he played a major role in the development of Paradise Island.
Referring to Myers as Mr. Tourism, former Prime Minister Hubert Ingraham said he and Myers were personal friends, while FNM Leader Michael Pintard said he’s always admired Myers’ work.
