NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Our News learned more about the initiative with the Ministry of Social Services and the RBPF’s Domestic Violence Unit at a consultative forum held this week.

The forum was held to discuss possible changes to legislation around sexual offenses, efforts to prevent violence, and asses the progress of the Domestic Violence Unit.

Inspector Kendra Wallace-Whyms shared the importance of making sure the efforts are not too Nassau-centric.

Our News also caught up with Social Services Minister Obie Wilchcombe who gave us a breakdown of where we could expect to see these first shelters appear, as well as their efforts to educate the public on ongoing projects.
