NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Politicians past and present gathering at the House of Assembly on Thursday morning to pay respects to former parliamentarian, cabinet minister, and House Speaker Vernon Symonette.

Symonette was first elected to parliament as the Inagua MP in 1982. He served as MP for Inagua and Mayaguana and House Speaker in 1992.

Former Prime Ministers Dr. Hubert Minnis and Hubert Ingraham remembering him as an outstanding man.

Meanwhile, Former Prime Minister Perry Christie says he was someone who wanted to elevate himself above the strife of political division.

He also says he had a great passion for national politics and healing.
