NASSAU, BAHAMAS – As National Youth Month comes to a close, Bahamian youth between the ages of 16-25, grace the halls of the House of Assembly today. The main focus – addressing the country’s growing crime problem.

Thirty-nine young representatives making recommendations to help combat crime at this year’s Youth In Parliament.

Marathon Youth MP, Shemiah Miller highlighting that The Bahamas’ murder count is in the triple digits, with most of them taking place in the nation’s capital.

He says more must be done.

The youth parliamentarians also addressing the amount of young people that have been killed in the country, as well as the age of those persons committing the crimes

There’s also the issue of gun violence.

Fort Charlotte Youth MP, Ryan Munnings proposes his recommendation on the matter.

On Monday, a number of young representatives will conduct similar presentations at Youth in Senate.
