GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – The nation’s second city is geared up and ready to celebrate the country’s 49th Anniversary of Independence.

Megan Shepherd reports that after back-to-back disasters – monster Hurricane Dorian and the ongoing pandemic, the island’s minister says it is time to celebrate our country’s history.

Minister for Grand Bahama, Ginger Moxey, excited to celebrate the 49th Anniversary of Independence and is hoping Grand Bahamians get the same spirit for so many reasons.

She is crediting the Grand Bahama Independence Committee for putting together an exciting lineup of activities starting as soon as Thursday.

There will also be many independence traditions like the Ecumenical Service, National Pride Day, a National Day of Community Service to name a few.

Minister Moxey adding that after a number of trying years for the island, all Grand Bahamians should try to support and showcase their pride as the island is starting to show positive signs of growth and recovery.
