NASSAU, BAHAMAS – The police commissioner says officers have uncovered a new trend as thieves are now removing or replacing VIN numbers from stolen vehicles.

The news comes as police announced just a few weeks ago that investigators have uncovered a carjacking ring targeting Japanese vehicles.

To date, the police commissioner says there have been 206 reports of stolen vehicles.

Fernander says the solution is working closely with road traffic officials.
