NASSAU , BAHAMAS – From the basketball court to the big screen, and now into the political arena, FNM candidate for Garden Hills, Rick Fox, brought high energy and an emotional message to the stage at the party’s Southern New Providence rally on Tuesday night.

Fox said that he’s ready to “fight” for residents as campaigning intensifies ahead of Nomination Day and the general election.

The Free National Movement’s Southern New Providence rally saw Garden Hills candidate Rick Fox in a rush of emotions Tuesday night.

Fox declared his readiness to represent the constituency and take on what he calls the “bullying” of Bahamians.

He added that his focus has now shifted to the people he is seeking to serve.

“In the short time, I’ve already felt the love and support. I began this journey wanting to fight the system, but now, getting to know each and every one of you, each and every one of you, I now am here to fight for your dreams and your future. I am here to fight for you!”

Fox also alleged that he’s been receiving threats, prompting wellness checks from family and friends.

“I got a call the other day from a friend concerned about my well-being. He wanted to alert me. He said the PLP was not happy with me.”

However, the former athlete turned political hopeful is adamant that he is ready for the road ahead.

“Let me be clear with you right now. I am running in this election because the only way to deal with bullies is to punch them in the mouth.”

Turning directly to Garden Hills residents, Fox said that the race has taken on new energy and presence, drawing a heightened reaction from the crowd.
