NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS – Members of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas Trade Union Congress convening for the annual Sir Randol Fawkes Labour Day church service.

In Grand Bahama, members gathered at Living Waters assembly, while in New Providence, they attended Living Waters Kingdom Ministries.

Senior Pastor of Living Waters Kingdom Ministries, Apostle Raymond Qells, delivered a sermon titled “Connecting For Greater Impact.”

A message that President of CBTUC, Obie Ferguson believes is ideal for union members going in to the march planned for June 5.

“He talked about collectiveness, cohesiveness that was very important. The decision that you make do not be overly worried about what people say what they want to do stick with the good lord, let him guide you.” – Obie Ferguson

Ferguson says the parade will take a historical twist this year.

Normally, participants march West along bay street and finish at Arawak Cay. However, this year, they will march down a route similar to that of the Labour Day Parade in 1956, led by Sir Randol Fawkes.

The parade will begin on Wulff Road and conclude at the Southern Recreation Grounds.

“We’re going to try to mimic as close as we can what he did and the impact.” – Obie Ferguson

Sunday’s church service was just the first activity on the unions agenda for the upcoming Labour Day March they also plan on launching a podcast.

“We have a podcast commencing on Tuesday. And you know why doing that? Because we want all of our members to hear us and see us and react to us.” – Obie Ferguson
