Four and a Half Year Sentence for Former Marine Who Pleaded Guilty to Illegal Gun Possession

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – A former Royal Bahamas Defence Force Marine has been jailed for four-and-a-half years for illegal gun possession.

24-year-old Anthony Edwards was handed the sentence after pleading guilty to possession of unlicensed firearms, and ammunition at his arraignment before Senior Magistrate Algernon Allen Jr.

Police carried out a search of Edwards’ home in Pride Estates and found two 9mm pistols, 21 rounds of 9mm ammunition, nine rounds of .40 ammunition, and one round of .556 ammunition on July 26.

At the time of his arrest, Edwards was a serving member of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force.
