GRAND BAHAMA, BAHAMAS – One Grand Bahama couple sharing their experience during the monster storm, calling its aftermath a war zone.

David and Katherine Mackey’s home is located in the eastern community of Grand Bahama. When building their home 12 years ago, they had natural disasters in mind and chose to include several hurricane resilient measures.

Though in place, high seas still surrounded their home but the couple decided that it was safe to stay there and wait out the storm. In the end, their home received some damage but they say they are just thankful to be alive. Though they say the recovery has been challenging.

Now three years later, the couple says it’s good to see some owners come back and try to repair their homes but as for others.
