UNITED STATES – Jazz Chisholm Jr.’s speed played a key role in a crucial late-inning rally as the New York Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles 5-3 on Wednesday night at Camden Yards.

Chisholm finished 1-2 with two walks and two runs scored, reaching base three times, as he was at the center of the Yankees’ go-ahead rally in the eighth inning.

With the game tied 3-3, Chisholm was at third when George Lombard Jr. hit a slow infield single.

The play forced Baltimore’s third baseman to make a difficult decision, try to get Chisholm at home or take the out at first.

Chisholm’s speed put the pressure on the defense, and he scored to give New York a 4-3 lead.

Chisholm then used his speed again.

With the bases still loaded, a wild pitch from Yennier Cano allowed him to race home from third with the insurance run, pushing the Yankees’ lead to 5-3.

So, while Chisholm didn’t drive in a run, his speed directly contributed to both runs in New York’s decisive eighth inning.

The victory moved the Yankees to 71-55, giving them their third straight win and clinching both the series and season series against Baltimore.

Young’s Walkoff Clinches Quebec’s Playoff Spot

Bahamian outfielder Chavez Young played hero on Wednesday night, delivering a walk-off hit that sent the Québec Capitales into the Frontier League Playoffs.

With the Capitales and Sussex County Miners tied at 8-8 in the bottom of the ninth, Young stepped to the plate and lined a ball into left field, bringing home the winning run and giving Québec a 9-8 victory.

The victory secured Québec’s postseason berth and continued what has been an impressive first season for Young with the Capitales.

The Bahamian has been one of the league’s most dynamic offensive players, combining power with elite speed.

Young has already set the Québec single-season franchise record for stolen bases, while leading the Frontier League in runs scored and ranking second in stolen bases.

The Capitales entered the season as the four-time defending Frontier League champions, and their 2026 campaign will now continue into September.

Bahamas Eliminated After Loss to Guyana

The Bahamas U14 boys national team’s run at the 2026 CFU U14 Challenge Series has come to an end after a 1-0 loss to Guyana in their final group-stage match in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.

The Bahamians entered the match with 6 points after opening the tournament with convincing victories over Anguilla and Montserrat.

They defeated Anguilla 3-0 in their opener before producing an even more impressive 5-0 win over Montserrat, but Guyana ended their group-stage campaign with a 1-0 victory.

The result left The Bahamas second in tier II group C with 6 points, behind Guyana, but second place was not enough to send the Bahamians into the semifinals.

Hield Successfully Defends Titles

Carl Hield is once again successful in his return to pro boxing in Colombia.

Hield stopped Yersih Contreras in the third round to successfully defend his WBA Fedecaribe and NBA Latin Super Welterweight titles.

The victory improves Hield to 17-0 as a professional, with all 17 of his victories coming by way of knockout.

Hield used a tactical approach throughout the fight, maintaining his distance and preventing the shorter Contreras from getting comfortable.

The win comes just weeks after Hield’s Commonwealth Games run ended because of an ankle injury.
