BPL Chairman Defends Recent Terminations

NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Three director positions at Bahamas Power and Light were recently made redundant with some speculating more firings are on the way. The company’s chairman is on the record defending the firings and exclusively tells Our News that the move prevents an even further hike in BPL bills. 

Bahamas Power and Light Chairman Pedro Rolle defending the termination of three employees, noting the decisions were made in the best interest of the company. 

Our News understands Energy Supply Director Andrew Darville, Security Director Lester Fernander, and I.T. Director Sebastian Carey were all sacked. 

Rolle says the terminations were to make the company more financially efficient and prevent another increase in power bills.

Rolle says the redundancies allow BPL to serve the public in a better way and makes it clear that these are the only reasons for the firings. 

He says the positions will remain vacant and not be filled.

Our News also got word that more terminations are set to rock BPL.
