NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Opposition Leader Michael Pintard said the government needs to apologize to the Bahamian people for the increase in fuel surcharge on Bahamas Power and Light bills set to take effect next month.

His comments come as Parliamentarians are debating the amendment to the Value Added Tax which will allow for a VAT exemption on bills $400 or less in the House of Assembly.

Pintard said the Free National Movement left a plan in place which would have addressed the BPL fuel surcharge.
