Concerns Mount Over Abaco Shantytowns, Says MP
ABACO, BAHAMAS – While the Abaco economy bounces back thanks to tourism, so are illegal communities that continue to plague the Island.
ABACO, BAHAMAS – While the Abaco economy is bouncing back thanks to sky-rocketing tourism numbers, so are those illegal communities that continue to plague the Northern Island.
Member of Parliament for Central and South Abaco John Pinder says there are growing concerns.
The Abaco MP says an announcement will be made about a multi-million dollar project in South Abaco soon.
And, as for the growing number of unregulated homes being built on that Northern Island, he says it’s a major concern for him.
Last month, Immigration Minister Keith Bell revealed that one Abaco Shanty Town has tripled in size. He also promised officials would step up their presence on the island.
The Central and South Abaco MP says that’s not the only worry adding there are also concerns about the water fields on that island.
