NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Chief Justice Ian Winder is promising to address long-standing issues within the justice system, and the list is long.

Chief Justice Ian Winder says efforts to establish several specialty courts are well underway – these include a family court, a sexual offenses court and a commercial court.

As it relates to the issue of backlogs in the coroners court, Chief Justice Winder says a major hurdle is getting a marshall for the evidence.

In terms of man power, he says they are undergoing a competitive recruitment process in hopes of seeking four to five judges early in the new year.
