NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Did you know that the world famous Glass Window Bridge now sits seven feet away from its original location in 1960?
Well, in just two more years, another new, more elevated bridge will be constructed.
Deputy Director in the Ministry of Works, Robert Mouzas explaining that overtopping causes the closure of Eleuthera’s Glass Window Bridge several times a year.
Overtopping is when the ocean is so rough waves crash onto the bridge making it impassable.
To this end, a local Bahamian company has been engaged to look at different options for a new bridge
He says the project has met all of the environmental requirements and will go out to tender by summer of this year.
As for the existing site, Mouzas says they’re looking to turn that into a Glass Window Village.
