NASSAU, BAHAMAS – Meteorologists around the globe celebrated World Meteorological Day on March 23, and a senior meteorologist is sharing how they’re making a difference in The Bahamas.

The theme for World Met Day 2023 is the “Future of Weather, Climate and Water Across Generations.”

Jeffery Simmons, Acting Director at the Department of Meteorology, said this year the focus is on ways they can help to preserve the environment for the generations to come.

While many depend heavily on meteorologists during times of potential natural disasters, Simmons says their day-to-day function is equally as important.

He says many other sectors also depend on the work of the met department.
